Our fantastic day with the letter F!

Whew! I think the first week is always the craziest, good thing the kids knew what they were doing even if I didn't! Today we learned about the letter F, the number 6 and we talked about our sense of touch. Ferdinand the frog talked to us about the letter F and everyone had the chance to show what they brought. We had a lot of frogs!

Next we talked about our fingers and what they can do. We snag some songs using our finger like the itsy bitsy spider, pat a cake, three blind mice, and 2 little black birds. For our letter art today we made a fox and a colorful fish.

I totally spaced out the poster letter so next week we'll have double the fun with feathers AND glitter. After we finished our letter art we talked about the number 6 and every one had a chance to catch a fish. When we were all done we counted our fish. We didn't get any pictures because Lillian was having great fun 'catching' the fish before the kids could :)

Next we went on a treasure hunt using our fingers to find the treasure. The kids had a great time playing with the sensory tubs, we'll have to play with them again!

By then the kids were all ready for a snack so we pulled out some fruit and got good and sticky!

We read a book about our five senses and talked some more about our sense of touch, then we went on a walk and explored all the textures that we could find outside. We felt the soft grass, a rough and a smooth tree, poky and soft leaves, a hard rock, and a rough brick wall. Finally we played with some playdough and experimented with different objects to create different textures.

Thanks so much to Miss Deborah for helping and taking all the pictures! Next week we'll be learning about the letter G, the number 7 and our sense of sight. We'll be painting so make sure to send your kids in a shirt that is ok to get a little dirty. See you next week!
